The British Government has released a new advisory about safety for visitors heading to Turkey.
On the FCDO advice page for Turkey, the government has advised travellers to take care when ordering a taxi.
Visitors have been cautioned that hopping into an 'unlicensed cab' might entail significant 'risks'.
The latest government advisory stated: "Taking rides from non-licensed taxi operators is extremely dangerous."
'Search for a licensed taxi, make sure to jot down the registration number prior to getting inside, and confirm that the fare uses the meter.
'Similarly, app-based taxis and pre-arranged taxis can be easily accessed.'
Ride-hailing applications like Uber operate in Turkey, allowing visitors to easily book a cab.
Visitors have lately been advised to exercise caution when engaging in extreme activities in Turkey.

In advice issued on the FCDO page, the government urged tourists to make sure they receive 'full instructions' before going paragliding.
The message stated: "Paragliding qualifies as an extreme sport and comes with the potential for severe injuries or fatalities. British citizens have lost their lives or suffered significant harm while paragliding in Turkey."
Ensure you receive complete instructions and training prior to engaging in the activity. If you're close to locations where paragliding occurs, keep in mind that the landing zone might be within a public space.
'Keep a reasonable distance from potential landing zones for your personal safety.'
